There are few more extreme challenges for panel workers than the side panels of a high speed passenger train. Waiting passengers will view along the side of the train many times - every day. Imperfections in the panels are easily seen. Even the slightest imperfection mars the appearance of the train.
Designed to cope with the rigorous demands of the aerospace industry, Quartz 3D measurement systems deliver high-speed inspection of the panels before they are fitted, reducing the amount of finishing required.
In other applications, such as reverse engineering, Quartz scanners are used to gauge wheel roundness and diameter - improving the accuracy of train navigation systems. Calibration gauges can be checked with the Quartz scanner, ensuring rails are maintained accurately. The possibilities in the rail industry are endless.
