Accuracy

As with all measurement technologies, accuracy is dependent on the size of the largest object the system can measure. Quartz scanners can be configured for varying measurement volumes. As a guideline, feature accuracy is approximately 1/20000 of the body diagonal of the measurement volume. Specific accuracy tables are included in the specifications section.

Certification

All Quartz scanners are certified according to the principles of VDI2634/2 before leaving the factory. Annual re-certification is recommended; this service is provided by skilled Phase Vision staff, and is included within the annual maintenance programs.

For certification, scanners are calibrated using their standard reference artefact prior to certification. This ensures that a calibration performed by a user can achieve the certified accuracy.

Repeatability R&R

A Gauge R&R report is specific to the object or component being inspected, and to the operators using the system. While operator skill generally has a small impact in production environments, it can be a factor when ad-hoc measurements in difficult environments are performed. Phase Vision provide training to ensure operators get the best from the scanners.

Example Gauge R&R reports are available, using standard metrology artefacts to demonstrate the principles – training is available if required. Phase Vision will also provide a Gauge R&R assessment of any component using the Quartz DBE family, although typically this is performed as consultancy work.

Maintenance Programs

Quartz scanners are built to be relied upon. It is important to keep them maintained so that you can be confident they continue to offer the same accuracy as when they left the factory.

We offer two levels of maintenance; Silver offers a Return To Base warranty with labour and parts; Gold extends this to include all major software upgrades to purchased packages, bringing the benefit of the latest breakthroughs in algorithms and accuracy.
